If you have problems connecting to a server using the 'Connect to.' Dialog box in the Finder (with the server known to be functional, and working from other accounts on the same machine), try deleting the invisible file /Library - Preferences -.GlobalPreferences.plist by typing the following in the terminal.

A dimmed 'Send' button in Apple Mail means there isn't a correctly configured outgoing mail server associated with the Mail account. This outcome can happen for a number of reasons, but the two most likely are as follows: either the mail service you use made changes to its settings and you need to update your settings, or your Mail preference file is outdated or corrupt — or has the wrong. Use this box to activate or deactivate Gmail on your Mac, including in the Mail app. Remove Gmail from your Mac, then add it again. When you remove Gmail, your Google emails, contacts, calendars, and notes are also removed from your Mac. This data is still stored on Google’s server and available when you log in to Google’s website.
I've tried to contact apple support and was escalated to the senior tech support, and after many hours of consultation, my final advice from them is to reformat my computer and see what I get.
Would like to try one last time to request for help from the community if there is any other options/solutions I can attempt. I am unable to reformat the macbook at the moment until another 2 months or so due to some ongoing projects and I don't wanna risk any thing now.
You need to list what it is you have tried at the suggestion of many hours w/ senior tech support—
or do we risk simply repeating the same options— like a game of whack-o-mole.
